Anti-caareer--Chris has never thought of what he does in the music business as a career
ASPCA--the "kitty foundation" (according to Taylor Hawkins) that Chris is a fan of
Aubrey--Chris's middle name. Meaning: noble/bright (German)
Audition--Chris auditioned twice for a spot on tour with the Foos. Chris was so good, he became the standard upon which the other members used to judge other auditioners--and since no one was as good as him, he got it.

Beebe, Joe--Guitar tech, roadie, all-around groovy guy who works with the Foos. He runs a cool site where you can get his personal updates on the Foos (complete with photos) and some mp3s of his music and more! Due to the bib incident, there may be some friction (j/k) between Chris and Beebe.
Belo--Another of Scott and Rie's "kids" (aka another kitty)
Ben and Jerry's--Chris loves their mint chocolate cookie flavor.
Bib--a cloth or plastic shield tied under the chin to protect the clothes courtesy of Webster's. Chris was found sporting one during a trip to a BBQ place in Japan.
Big Guy--What Nate's 'member' is, so said Chris when he accidentally saw it while in the changing room.

Blue--the color of Chris's eyes
Bowling--game/sport; Gimmes are fans of this game; Chris says he gets such "awful" scores that Fat Mike wouldn't allow him on the Fat Wreck bowling team (poor thing!)
Boxing--another hobby of Chris and a sport he loves. He got into boxing b/c of his family--Mike is a big fan.
Brazil--Home of the "most insane" tour (w/JU in June '06) that Chris has ever been on. Chris had done a lot of tours there with other bands but with JU it was a totally different experience, one which he can't properly describe. Nothing worked ever; live-wires onstage where you might get killed, weirdest, strangest club set-ups, just bizarre. JU played at a beach house party where you'd get shocked on the mike, slipping in beer, anything you could/not imagine.
Breyer's--Their rocky road is another favorite of Chris's.
Brother Dumpers--TJ Cape was once Scott's best friend; Scott eventually dumped him for younger brother Joey who then dumped Scott for his younger brother, Chris
Brothers--Chris and Scott are brothers, Scott being the elder brother. They also have an older brother, Mike Shiflett, and a step-brother Steve Watson.
Bug--While living in NY, Chris was jamming with friends which gave him the "bug" to work on his own music--get song ideas, make a record.

Common ground--Despite their differences, Scott said that he and Trever have a lot of 'common ground and respect' for each other.

Congregation place--Chris's house is where the Shifletts tend to gather, as he has kids (Scott and Mike don't)
Creative spirit--Chris reserves his for his projects like Jackson United
Cribby (or Chribby; unsure of spelling)--nickname for Chris, given to him by Scott
Critics' Darlings--Shifty dubbed the Jackson this when they got some poor reviews. He also doesn't feel that Foo Fighters will ever be darlings with critics and get all the great reviews, make lists (such as best live acts).

Dixie Chicks--Popular contemporay country group--one of the artists that the Gimmes covered on their Gimmes Love Their Country album. Chris stayed at the same hotel as they did in Australia but never approached them to say "hey we covered your song."

Eagan, Rich--Founder of Vagrant Records, Rich was the long-time manager of Face to Face. Scott has called him the "fourth or fifth" member of the band who cared as much as anyone else.

Eccentric personality--Nate says Chris has one which makes him a perfect fit for the band

Ernie Ball Stage--stage that Jackson performed on during the Warped Tour in 2003.
Exclamation Points--seems to be Chris's favorite punctuation mark as he uses them all the time in his posts
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"--awesome movie from '04 that Chris and Doug both enjoyed

Fairytale--A lot of people think that being in a band is a "fairytale," but according to Chris it's not. "different people with different egos, different goals, it's rare when bands can make it for a while."

Jackson boards--message boards for fans of Jackson United; Chris (and the rest of the band) can often be found posting there
Jackson EP--Five song EP
Jackson, Jake--nickname for Chris that he picked out of a hat when he worked at Fat Wreck Chords, since there was another Chris (Dodge) working there already. Chris is known by Jake Jackson in the Gimmes, as well as his time with NUFAN.
Jackson, Jesse--Chris met the real deal in October at an airport. It's also the name of the political board at the JU site
Jackson United--the new name of Chris's band whose members include: Chris (lead guitarist/singer/songwriter), Doug Sangalang (second guitar), Omen Starr (bassist), and Cary LaScala (drums). Lifelong honorary members are Pete Parada on drums and Scott Shiflett on bass.
Japan--Scott loved touring there with Face to Face

hiveArchive Name LaScala, Cary--former touring drummer in Jackson (United), he left in '06. Is currently working on his solo album and is in Bellavista; former drummer for Communiqu? For the past two+ years, Scott has taken over his little brother's position on tour. Although the Gimmes are supposed to be a "lighthearted/joke" band, Chris is amazed at the fact that he's been in that band longer than any other in his career.
Melvin, Eric--NOFX guitarist who is currently filling in for Fat Mike on tour w/the Gimmes; Melvin and Scott are close pals and have fun together on tour

Mendel, Nate--friend; fellow fighter of Foo; Chris and Nate are known as the "quiet/shy" Foos; bassist for FF and for The Fire Theft. Like Chris, Nate is found on the no-smoking "baby" tourbus. When asked which male rockstar Chris would ever have sex with, he responded with: Nate Mendel.
Mid-80s--the era when Chris first discovered punk music by The Jam, Stiff Little Fingers, The Sex Pistols, and The Clash
Million-Dollar Demos--Name given to the demos that were shelved during the making of One By One. Chris doesn't recall what half the demos were and thinks that most of it was crummy, weaker versions of the same songs that wound up on the album, or versions of songs that weren't good to begin with.

Despite leaving them to join Foo Fighters, Chris feels that they "are not so far removed" from each other. Recently, Scott pinch-hitted for NUFAN, filling in for Dave Nassie on guitar. Whatta guy!

Starr, Omen--Born to hippie parents in the seventies (*before* the movie, The Omen came out), Omen was the last member to fill out the Jackson United team. While he may bear a striking resemblance to Chris's other favorite bassist (no, not his brother Scott), Nate Mendel, he's a little more wild, having fun bleaching his hair. Omen is previously from the band Top Brown. You may notice him posting on the boards...heck, even his MOTHER posts! But if people say they're his cousin, chances are they're lying! Update: Omen left the band last year and Scott has replaced his replacement.
