How to Pull Off a Successful Prank

January 28th, 2011 by admin

Keep it simple

When deciding who and how to prank, keep it simple, because big, complicated plans are easier to spoil. Set the scene and be flexible with your plans. Also, don’t do anything too mean and make sure no one is going to get hurt. The goal of a prank is laughter or minor embarrassment, and everyone should be able to recover after a few minutes. The humor will quickly disappear if someone gets really upset or injured. Also, don’t try to prank someone with no sense of humor; choose someone who will enjoy your handiwork and have a laugh.

Don’t give yourself away

It’s important to keep a straight face and contain your excitement. Don’t rush, and try to act as normal as possible, otherwise your intended victim will sense something and likely call you out. Plan well, and the practical joke will happen naturally and catch everyone off guard.

Decide if you need an accomplice

It can be helpful to have someone in on the joke in order to distract your victim or get them to the prank location, but it’s important to choose an accomplice carefully. The more people that know about a prank, the higher the risk they will give it away before it has taken place.

Here are a few good pranks to play:

Classic whoopee cushion

The whoopee cushion is still popular year after year because it’s an easy safe prank you can play on practically anyone. To effectively pull it off, try to disguise it if possible — under a blanket, chair cover, or couch cushion — but make sure it’s where someone will sit! Don’t blow it up before you’re ready to place it and don’t tell anyone else that you have it, otherwise everyone will be on the lookout for lumpy seating and that’s no fun!

Creepycrawlies

One of our favorite gags makes use of the creepy cockroaches. These are life-like plastic cockroaches that can be placed practically anywhere to freak out your victim. It’s best to leave them in a place where they’ll be found, like in a cabinet, under dishes, or under the sheets. The best target is someone that’s terrified of insects and will overreact, but doesn’t have a weak heart!

Fake parking tickets

For out-of-town visitors or someone borrowing a car a fake parking ticket can generate a priceless reaction. The tickets even have options to explain the driver’s “offenses.” You have to be pretty stealthy about placing these on your victim’s car without them seeing you. Put the ticket on the windshield in a spot where the driver will see it from a distance, and enjoy the show. It is very funny to watch someone starting to get upset before they even get to the car. And with the funny, sarcastic sayings on the fake tickets, the driver will quickly know that it is just a joke.

There are so many practical joke products available these days, you could be pulling fun pranks all year round; just be sure to remember to keep it safe and simple.

Learning to Make Beats, Feeling the Music Business

January 20th, 2011 by admin

If you’re under the impression making rap beats is easy, you’re setting yourself up for a disappointment. Rap beats may be uncomplicated; they may be minimalist, they may sound like they don’t take much effort to create, but in fact most often, the take a lot of effort. Very occasionally a band will make a rap beat in a few hours, and have something that sounds great, but usually a quickly thrown-together rap beat that sounds excellent is the result of an experienced producer who can take a creative musical direction and quickly forge it into something hot and listenable as the result of accumulated skill.

The reason why simple things like rap beats can take so much effort is because the producer making them has to be selective about what sounds he or she chooses, and the producer also needs to be meticulous about the techniques he or she uses to polish the beat to a point where it can be listened to and enjoyed, instead of listened to and turned off. To make beats, you have to learn. To learn, you have to check out resources. The key categories you need to research are arrangement, mixing, mastering, equalization, and (if you’re going to be recording musicians) recording.

Also, learning the ins and outs of the music business including music publishing and record labels is a great way to understand the structure of the industry from the start and to get an idea of whether becoming a music producer is a path you want to pursue. The resources are out there, all you gotta do is find them. So get crackin. Someone’s gonna end the reign of T-Pain and Lil Wayne, maybe it’s you.

My cat is black. How can I love him

January 19th, 2011 by admin

My cat is black. How can I love him, he is so black that if he wore a name tag you would never know that he was wearing one. All of my cars look so different. Its like they are all from different litters, yet they all act like they are brothers. They have fights sometimes and they are always lying and sitting together on my desk and tables. When they lay in my bed it is so cute because all they do is lye next to each other and lick each other to make sure that they are all clean and ready to go to name tag.

When they eat they eat with the name tags on and all take turns eating out of the bowls. Sometimes when the name tag falls off of one cat, the other cat will pick it up and smack him in the face with it. It is actually kind of funny to watch them act like that with each other because it reminds me of when I used to do weird things like that with my family members and we would slap each other in the face with things that we dropped.

One time I went to the grocery store and I bought a fish, the name tag said tilapia. Anyways, I dropped it on the floor on my way into the kitchen, and my brother picked it up by the tail. Asked me if it was mine and when I told him it was, he slapped me in the face with it. He said its my name badges now. Put it in the freezer and walked away.
